<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-mMFSRj9pUQE/VkCpxzOYAoI/AAAAAAAAAsE/O0Aw03OgIVs/s1600/Hammer1280x720.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: justify;"><img border="0" height="360" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-mMFSRj9pUQE/VkCpxzOYAoI/AAAAAAAAAsE/O0Aw03OgIVs/s640/Hammer1280x720.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;"><br /></span></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">Today I got something different for you. As a 40K fluff nut, I can't help but promote the awesome fan video that is "<a href="https://www.facebook.com/The.Lord.Inquisitor/" target="_blank">The Lord Inquisitor</a>".</span></div>
<a name='more'></a><span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;"></span><br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">In case you haven't heard of the project before, which means you might have been living under a rock, here's the gist of it:</span></div>
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">
</span>
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">A couple of years ago, 3D video artist Erasmus Brosdau started a little side project in his free time. He had decided to create his very own 40K short movie with a focus on the Inquisition. Centrepiece for this endeavour was his love for the miniature of Inquisitor Torquemada:</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif; margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-xKRYURQSMfs/VkCnkY64sWI/AAAAAAAAArw/9CB38p0rOcY/s320/torquemada.jpg" width="273" /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">His render of the Lord Inquisitor is quite impressive:</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-CfS7HMs0UgY/VkCnyr_2VKI/AAAAAAAAAr4/r2VEVsD0A6Q/s1600/torquemadafinal-copy.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-CfS7HMs0UgY/VkCnyr_2VKI/AAAAAAAAAr4/r2VEVsD0A6Q/s320/torquemadafinal-copy.jpg" width="240" /></span></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">GW actually approved the fan-made film and ever since then, Erasmus has been insanely busy, rendering all the models, environments and whatnot. Even better, Black Library author extraordinaire Aaron Dembski-Bowden, a personal favourite, signed up to write the script.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">So far, the movie had two teasers released:</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;"><iframe allowfullscreen="" class="YOUTUBE-iframe-video" data-thumbnail-src="https://i.ytimg.com/vi/JjaYW5Cnr5k/0.jpg" frameborder="0" height="266" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/JjaYW5Cnr5k?feature=player_embedded" width="320"></iframe></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;"><b>And this is it - the brand-new version of Inquisitor Marcus:</b></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;"><iframe allowfullscreen="" class="YOUTUBE-iframe-video" data-thumbnail-src="https://i.ytimg.com/vi/SyPggk6x310/0.jpg" frameborder="0" height="266" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/SyPggk6x310?feature=player_embedded" width="320"></iframe></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">We'll get the prologue, meaning the first 4 minutes of the movie, sometime in 2016. The full 20 minute movie will follow the year after.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">Are you hyped for it's release? I certainly am and salute Erasmus' efforts to manage such a huge project in his free time! </span></div>

<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-s-ImPDJmGfc/VjYTpq2ZPzI/AAAAAAAAArc/TVggvnEqhH0/s1600/Infinity_October_Releases.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="164" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-s-ImPDJmGfc/VjYTpq2ZPzI/AAAAAAAAArc/TVggvnEqhH0/s640/Infinity_October_Releases.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;"><br /></span>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">After my absence for the past few months, Infinity Release posts are also back. Corvus Belli showed some incredible new stuff - if you're a TAG lover, there's no way around these news!</span></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;"><br /></span>
</div>
<a name='more'></a><span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;"><br /></span>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">Let's start off with the big two, although it might be almost big three, as you'll see. PanOceania and Yu Jing received new TAGs. The PanOceania Seraph is the first of the by now almost infamous Stingray-Series of TAGs, that players have been clamouring for for quite a while now.</span></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;"><br /></span>
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-kCqresItdXs/VjYTpy5Ip7I/AAAAAAAAArg/fnX6ZNQxWiU/s1600/Infinity_Seraph.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="166" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-kCqresItdXs/VjYTpy5Ip7I/AAAAAAAAArg/fnX6ZNQxWiU/s400/Infinity_Seraph.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">Then there's Yu Jing's Guija. It's a resculpt of one of the game's oldest TAGs. Similar to PanO's Squalo, the update is a more than welcome change in design. Behold that beauty made of pure awesome:</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;"><br /></span>
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-CnqdzKWOfuo/VjYTpUN8P5I/AAAAAAAAArY/z1EJcstBnZY/s1600/Infinity_Guija.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="166" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-CnqdzKWOfuo/VjYTpUN8P5I/AAAAAAAAArY/z1EJcstBnZY/s400/Infinity_Guija.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">So, I mentioned, that there might be a third big model. Haqqislam players get a new Azra'il with HMG. AS if the TAGs weren't enough, CB seemed to think October was the month to blow our collective socks off. That one is a beast - I'm really struggling to keep myself from wanting to start more and more factions.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;"><br /></span>
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-A2dgmDMfESs/VjYTpdBlghI/AAAAAAAAArQ/7vvaWQ2Qu1U/s1600/Infinity_Azrail.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="166" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-A2dgmDMfESs/VjYTpdBlghI/AAAAAAAAArQ/7vvaWQ2Qu1U/s400/Infinity_Azrail.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">Ever since this year's GenCon, Corvus Belli has released more and more USAriadna miniatures. This month we get the promised non-limited version of Van Zant. The new version stays true to the "Reign of Fire" homage, with axe and all. Although I gotta admit, that I like Rifle-Van Zant a little bit better.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;"><br /></span>
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-04XSR_Kkrx0/VjYTqLofJuI/AAAAAAAAArk/OiE2BUfW0XM/s1600/Infinity_Van_Zant.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="166" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-04XSR_Kkrx0/VjYTqLofJuI/AAAAAAAAArk/OiE2BUfW0XM/s400/Infinity_Van_Zant.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;"><br /></span>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">Last release for October is the Dactyl Doctor for Aleph. I gotta be honest: Going by <a href="http://mayacast.com/" target="_blank">Mayacast's</a> scale of judging minis, this is merely a 3 out of 5 for me. I'm usually a big fan of Aleph sculpts, but especially compared to the rest of the line-up, this one is more of a standard sculpt for CB. Not bad, though, just not with as much gravitas as the other releases.</span></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;"><br /></span>
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-KQONxuaqeIY/VjYTpUTot_I/AAAAAAAAArU/U_0RoVlbz0o/s1600/Infinity_Dactyl_Doctor.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="166" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-KQONxuaqeIY/VjYTpUTot_I/AAAAAAAAArU/U_0RoVlbz0o/s400/Infinity_Dactyl_Doctor.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;"><br /></span>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">Still, October was helluva lot impressive. The release of the Seraph has me anxiously waiting for the rest of the Stingrays - the Uhlan and the Tikbalang. I really hope to see some more TAGs on gaming tables, as of now, they seem to remain a rarity. And looking at the bunch of new Haqq minis released, I think, I need to get my hands on one of these Azra'il, just to paint one up.</span></div>

<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-7Bc8Dv27GP8/VizBdLurmgI/AAAAAAAAAqg/H_PWhU86Gu0/s1600/PanO_Joan_3.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-7Bc8Dv27GP8/VizBdLurmgI/AAAAAAAAAqg/H_PWhU86Gu0/s400/PanO_Joan_3.png" width="303" /></a></div>
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;"><br /></span>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">As previewed in the editorial last weekend, here's the showcase for one of my latest projects: the Infinity Limited Edition Joan of Arc.</span></div>
<br />
<a name='more'></a><div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">Like many Infinity fans, I just had to buy the Angel Giraldes Masterclass Vol.1 painting guide. The book itself is nice enough, but Corvus Belli was so kind as to include a limited edition miniature. The new Joan of Arc sculpt was gorgeous and full of character, also my PanO forces were in lack of a charismatic leader.</span></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: georgia, 'times new roman', serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: georgia, 'times new roman', serif;">For those of you who don't own the book - there's a step by step painting guide of the miniature included. It's sort of the centerpiece of the entire book. Angel challenges readers to paint the mini with the guide as your aid and to test all the techniques included in the book. Since I feel drawn to a good painting challenge like a moth to a flame, I had to give it a go. Here's the result:</span></div>

<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;"><br /></span>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">Hey everyone, I've been gone for a few weeks - work, some well deserved vacation and a case of annoying sickness had me caught up with personal life issues. Which doesn't mean I've stayed away from gaming and what's more important: Painting! So here's a quick run down of what's been going on, what I painted and a few teasers of what you can expect in the next two weeks.</span></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;"><br /></span>
</div>
<a name='more'></a><div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">First of all, welcome to a new part of the blog - the editorial. I'll use this to write about my thoughts on hobby-related stuff, gaming and all the other fun ramblings that make a great opinion piece.</span></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: georgia, 'times new roman', serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: georgia, 'times new roman', serif;">As I mentioned above, the last few weeks have been crazy busy, but I managed to sneak in some painting time nevertheless. It's my own variation on meditation, you could say - I'm way more relaxed and down to earth after painting for a few hours at a time. It's my heart of stone, my jedi meditation.</span></div>
<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: georgia, 'times new roman', serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: georgia, 'times new roman', serif;">I also needed to paint, because, as you might remember, I had joined </span><a href="http://www.data-sphere.net/" style="font-family: georgia, 'times new roman', serif;" target="_blank">Data-Sphere</a><span style="font-family: georgia, 'times new roman', serif;">'s painting competition for Q3. Unfortunately there won't be any elaborated tutorial piece on my version of Machaon as PanO medic - I just didn't find the time to take enough pictures. Still, I managed to get him done for the final voting and once again took third place. Where's the pictures, I hear you say. Right you are, here we go:</span></div>
<br />

<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">But Machaon is not the only mini I painted in the past few weeks...here's a little teaser on another showcase I'll do next week:</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">And there's even more to come. Why's that? Because yours truly has been to Spiel 2016, where I bought a lot of goodies. Fans of Infinity, Dungeons & Dragons and SAGA, keep an eye on this space!</span></div>

<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-orzvc9-pupw/VbZHZysKqoI/AAAAAAAAAnk/mSR9APpT9js/s1600/Piranha_Side.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-orzvc9-pupw/VbZHZysKqoI/AAAAAAAAAnk/mSR9APpT9js/s400/Piranha_Side.png" width="398" /></a></div>
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;"><br /></span>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">Have you missed my urban Tau? Don't worry - here's a new unit for you. My first Piranha and also the first real vehicle on this blog.</span></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<a name='more'></a><br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: georgia, 'times new roman', serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: georgia, 'times new roman', serif;">To be honest, I only bought the Piranha, because I had about 20 Euros that I wanted to spend on something new for my Tau. As most of you might know, there's not much you can get in that price range anymore. The Piranha is one of the few models, that's still pretty cheap. I wasn't a big fan of the design, but I thought, a nice speeding skimmer might be a cool addition to the army. </span></div>
<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: georgia, 'times new roman', serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: georgia, 'times new roman', serif;">Putting it together was pretty horrible - this might be due to the sprues being old as hell. The side panels wouldn't line up with the rest of the body and was driving me nuts. So I had to trim and file away like a lunatic, then go over the still visible seams with green stuff to make it look nice and smooth. Did I mention that I really don't like building models?</span></div>
<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: georgia, 'times new roman', serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: georgia, 'times new roman', serif;">Anyways - painting it was a blast. This is one of the models I painted before I got my airbrush, so everything is done by standard brushwork. I also went for a weathered look, because my urban cadre should look like it's been through some fighting. </span></div>
<br />
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;"><br /></span>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-orzvc9-pupw/VbZHZysKqoI/AAAAAAAAAno/4v_Ps7kC71g/s1600/Piranha_Side.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-orzvc9-pupw/VbZHZysKqoI/AAAAAAAAAno/4v_Ps7kC71g/s400/Piranha_Side.png" width="398" /></a></div>
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;"><br /></span>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-q0ohcM5bp-o/VbZHqKQ0GGI/AAAAAAAAAn0/3BMCYVLBen4/s1600/Piranha-Cockpit.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-q0ohcM5bp-o/VbZHqKQ0GGI/AAAAAAAAAn0/3BMCYVLBen4/s400/Piranha-Cockpit.png" width="343" /></a></div>
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">The bottom line is: Now I love Piranhas. I've played a few games with it and that thing was a blast. I will get at least another one, although I'm dreading the building process. </span>Kenzahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13747152644986025891noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5020133261150902369.post-75965721547131589102015-07-29T17:10:00.000+02:002015-07-29T17:10:41.159+02:00X-Wing Battle Reports<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-SyfB_5x2qyM/VbZaNXFboaI/AAAAAAAAAoE/CL4J76VlTx0/s1600/X-wing_SWGTCG.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-SyfB_5x2qyM/VbZaNXFboaI/AAAAAAAAAoE/CL4J76VlTx0/s640/X-wing_SWGTCG.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">By now I'd assume most (tabletop) gamers have heard of the <a href="https://www.fantasyflightgames.com/en/products/x-wing/" target="_blank">X-Wing miniatures game</a> by Fantasy Flight Games. I recently played it with a friend and took a couple of pictures with the intention of doing a BatRep on it. Turns out, this is way harder than we thought.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"></span><br />
<a name='more'></a><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">First of all - I'm not a new convert, I've had my starter box and several fighters for at least 1.5 years. But with my gaming time being severly limited, I tend to not get that many games in - at all. That's why we actually decided to play - to use our minis again and have some great fun.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<b><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Setup</span></b><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">What's basically as important as the visuals with Star Wars? The one thing, everyone remembers beside looks and story? It's the music. The Star Wars score is so recognizable that it would be a shame not to use it while playing X-Wing. So we got some of our favourite space battle tracks playing in the background:</span><br />
<br />
<ol>
<li><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_D0ZQPqeJkk" target="_blank">Main title</a> (because you can't possibly not have it on here)</span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SEEOcqbeclg" target="_blank">Episode IV: The Battle of Yavin</a></span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SVycvLAFXmc" target="_blank">Episode V: The Asteroid Field</a></span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=66LuCc8mfC8" target="_blank">Episode VI: The Battle of Endor III</a></span></li>
</ol>
<div>
<b><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">The Game</span></b></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">We went for 100 points per side, me playing the rebels, my friend going for the Imperium. My little squadron consisted of 3 X-Wings and 1 A-Wing, while he chose 3 Tie Fighters and 2 Interceptors. Since X-Wing is pretty easy to set up, we placed some asteroids in the center of our table and went for each other's throats.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-vUadv0--jgQ/VbZbYfeMkKI/AAAAAAAAAoQ/62lTJ_kwYVE/s1600/XWing_setup.png" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="448" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-vUadv0--jgQ/VbZbYfeMkKI/AAAAAAAAAoQ/62lTJ_kwYVE/s640/XWing_setup.png" width="640" /></a></div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">And here is, where the problem comes in: X-Wing is fast-paced, with lots of actions and maneuvers. Although we took a boatload of pictures, there's no way I can tell you what happened in the 2 hours we played. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>

<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">What I do remember is the epic finale, when I was down to Wedge Antilles in his battered X-</span><br />

<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-jUQBtg8p2c8/VbYFf1UeHxI/AAAAAAAAAmc/gFsJtYpKsr8/s1600/machaon-myrmidon-doctor-officer.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="360" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-jUQBtg8p2c8/VbYFf1UeHxI/AAAAAAAAAmc/gFsJtYpKsr8/s640/machaon-myrmidon-doctor-officer.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">After my recent 3rd place at <a href="http://www.data-sphere.net/data-sphere-painting-campaign-15-summer-season-results/" target="_blank">Data Spheres Q2 painting competition</a>, I decided to enter in the subsequent <a href="http://www.data-sphere.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=3299" target="_blank">comp for Q3</a> as well. The theme for their current challenge is Infinity Specialists - so Doctors, Hackers, Medics, Forward Observers and Engineers first and foremost. But which one will it be for my PanO?</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"></span><br />
<a name='more'></a><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">PanOceania has a couple of specialists, although I'm not particularly fond of most of their sculpts. Especially their support pack - the engineer and the trauma doc - are not really my thing. They also use the old style of armour, which I'm trying to avoid with all new additions to my current collection. But since I'm actually in need of some more specialists for the ITS escalation league we're running, I needed to find an alternative. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Looking around the other factions' ranges, I quickly settled on my new trauma doc:</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Oy1tFBwxZtI/VbYMaEGvWzI/AAAAAAAAAms/2bWUAVm3euc/s1600/Machaon_timestamp.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Oy1tFBwxZtI/VbYMaEGvWzI/AAAAAAAAAms/2bWUAVm3euc/s400/Machaon_timestamp.png" width="310" /></a></div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">It's Machaon from Aleph, a sculpt that caught my eye even before I got back into Infinity. All he needs is a proper PanO paintjob and he'll look the part, since his armour doesn't differ too much from the standard PanOceania fusilier, with boots similar to those of the Hexa's.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">So I layed down a blue basecoat with my airbrush and added some highlights, using some Vallejo Model Air and Game Air for the first time. </span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-iKvlIw3g0DE/VbYNa9zfq0I/AAAAAAAAAm0/-d-tFFLFY-A/s1600/Machaon_AB1.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-iKvlIw3g0DE/VbYNa9zfq0I/AAAAAAAAAm0/-d-tFFLFY-A/s400/Machaon_AB1.png" width="288" /></a></div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/--p7HCMDnToc/VbYNfQ7I08I/AAAAAAAAAm8/8UZALMTw190/s1600/Machaon_AB2.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/--p7HCMDnToc/VbYNfQ7I08I/AAAAAAAAAm8/8UZALMTw190/s400/Machaon_AB2.png" width="287" /></a></div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><b>Blacklining</b></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">All well and good, so let's refine the armour a bit. I blacklined the armour plates with a mix of Abaddon Black and the Vallejo Model Air Blue. Now, blacklining is something I've rarely done before and only added to my set of techniques recently. It helps to bring out separate armour panels, as well as make details pop even more than with your standard washes. It's also not easy to do - think of it as taking washes to the next level. Every beginner can do a wash and get some definition from it. With blacklining, you do the definition in the most controlled way possible - by taking a very fine brush and painting those lines in by hand. You'll need very good control of your brushwork, a steady hand and the proper liquidity of your colour to pull it off.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">This is what I got after blacklining:</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-7yMV85zX7vg/VbYN57q04zI/AAAAAAAAAnE/ScDMufUn9EI/s1600/Machaon_blacklining.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-7yMV85zX7vg/VbYN57q04zI/AAAAAAAAAnE/ScDMufUn9EI/s400/Machaon_blacklining.png" width="285" /></a></div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">To add to the now defined areas I went on and highlighted them by adding some Vallejo Electric Blue and then pure white to the mix. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br /></span>

<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-ArX9q8ZIKSs/Vap5N64HV6I/AAAAAAAAAmE/AEd_FmNZTqs/s1600/1st-place.png" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="388" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-ArX9q8ZIKSs/Vap5N64HV6I/AAAAAAAAAmE/AEd_FmNZTqs/s640/1st-place.png" width="640" /></a></div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Do you guys remember the painting competition on <a href="http://www.data-sphere.net/" target="_blank">Data Sphere</a>, that I painted the Infinity <a href="http://kungfusedcreations.blogspot.de/2015/05/showcase-infinity-authorized-bounty.html" target="_blank">Bounty Hunter</a> for? The results and therefore the winners are finally in. I actually was among the top 3, but I'd like to take some time to show you the other two winners here.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"></span><br />
<a name='more'></a><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">The summer painting competition was a bit of an awkward beast, really. With lots of great entries, in the end there two painters in the lead. They ended up tied for first place - IbanezMark and Maxvon_D. Here are their entries:</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif; margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-46v_zjykIWs/VapzSqENWFI/AAAAAAAAAlU/mj0WttFHDSU/s1600/Maxvon_D.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-46v_zjykIWs/VapzSqENWFI/AAAAAAAAAlU/mj0WttFHDSU/s400/Maxvon_D.jpg" width="300" /></a></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-o9gE_fZNUoU/VapzTretYKI/AAAAAAAAAlc/VmiPDTGxzZE/s1600/Maxvon_D2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-o9gE_fZNUoU/VapzTretYKI/AAAAAAAAAlc/VmiPDTGxzZE/s400/Maxvon_D2.jpg" width="300" /></span></a></div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Maxvon_D painted this jawdroppingly awesome Ajax. Ever since he posted the pics of that bad boy I was certain that I'd stand little chance in this competition. He's done a wonderful job with lots of smooth blendings, an interesting colour palette and minute details. Just look at the hammer...I was stunned. His other Aleph minis are a joy to behold as well, just look for him on the official Infinity forums.</span><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-q6XoDZf8e9w/Vap0Ptw5FvI/AAAAAAAAAlk/akjYXmqb1GE/s1600/IbanezMark.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><img border="0" height="311" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-q6XoDZf8e9w/Vap0Ptw5FvI/AAAAAAAAAlk/akjYXmqb1GE/s320/IbanezMark.jpg" width="320" /></span></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-iNBxm-3z6GM/Vap0PnohHII/AAAAAAAAAl0/RRxy-5mJGiY/s1600/IbanezMark2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><img border="0" height="317" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-iNBxm-3z6GM/Vap0PnohHII/AAAAAAAAAl0/RRxy-5mJGiY/s320/IbanezMark2.jpg" width="320" /></span></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-VW5uu7giuFI/Vap0PlyKmnI/AAAAAAAAAl4/ZhoibWhABNs/s1600/IbanezMark3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-VW5uu7giuFI/Vap0PlyKmnI/AAAAAAAAAl4/ZhoibWhABNs/s320/IbanezMark3.jpg" width="319" /></span></a></div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">IbanezMark is the painter of this awesome Yu Jing Hac Tao. I know from experience, how tricky black armour can be. I like his colour palette a lot, the orange and teal is always a good combination. The freehands are cleanly painted (have you seen that tiny tiny symbol on his shoulder?). Additionally he took the time to strike at PanO players with his base decoration. Overall, the very clean painting style impressed the hell out of me.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">So, I tip my hat to these first class painters. Stunning work!</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">As I mentioned above, I also made my way to the top. Data Sphere decided, that with two 1st places and due to limited prize support, there would only be a third place left. And that's where I placed. I'm incredibly happy with that fact and am honoured to rank among these fine artists. Most of you will probably have seen my Bounty Hunter by now. But here it is one more time for completion's sake.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-BD9iv_ixoEs/VWtCHFV3sjI/AAAAAAAAAe8/-ktIzlSx9fA/s1600/ABH_done1.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-BD9iv_ixoEs/VWtCHFV3sjI/AAAAAAAAAe8/-ktIzlSx9fA/s400/ABH_done1.png" width="320" /></span></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span></div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">In case you are wondering about a Q3 competition - it is already running. There's still time for you to take a "before" picture and post it <a href="http://www.data-sphere.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=3299" target="_blank">here</a>. This quarter's theme is Specialists.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">As with last quarter and the Bounty Hunter, I'll do a series of articles for my entry. So stay tuned.</span><br />

<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">If you follow me on Twitter (@kungfu5edpaints), you might have seen some WIP shots of my Tau Pathfinders during the last few weeks. I completed my first squad this weekend - so a new showcase had to be done.</span><br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">The Tau Pathfinders were part of the most recent Tau releases. The first thing I noticed was the crispness of all the details, with close to none mold lines to be found. Fantastic quality! GW has also demonstrated with many of the recent 40K miniature kits, that they like to provide a ton of bitz to bling up your little warriors. So that is pretty cool as well. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">In regards to painting them, I wanted to go with a very similar theme as with my <a href="http://kungfusedcreations.blogspot.de/2013/08/eye-candy-40k-tau-stealth-suits.html" target="_blank">stealth suits</a>. I didn't get the green-grey entirely right, unfortunately, but it's not a big problem. So here's the guys: </span><br />

<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-9ot19IUTiSQ/VZv21UDOFEI/AAAAAAAAAjU/r-cx9hxycMQ/s1600/Battlefield%2B2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-9ot19IUTiSQ/VZv21UDOFEI/AAAAAAAAAjU/r-cx9hxycMQ/s640/Battlefield%2B2.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">I've recently joined an Infinity Escalation League, to get some more playing experience. We decided to do BatReps for our games to show all the group's players what's been going on. So here it is - the BatRep for my first game: My PanOceania vs Ariadna.</span><br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">As a preface, you should know that we are playing according to the ITS Escalation League rules provided by Corvus Belli. Those dictate point limits and amount of rules used in the game. For the first round, both sides are supposed to play with 120 points each. Additionally, no advanced rules like Hacking, Terrain or Command Tokens are employed, nor will each side have a lieutenant in their list.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><b>My list: </b></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">1 Fusilier</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">1 Fusilier Paramedic</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">1 Father-Knight w/ Boarding Shotgun</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">1 Hexa w/ Combi Rifle</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">1 Nisse w/ Combi Rifle</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><b>My opponent used the following list:</b></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">1 112</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">2 Volunteers with Rifles</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">1 Dog-Warrior</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">1 Highlander with Boarding Shotgun</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">1 Foxtrot Ranger with Boarding Shotgun</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">1 Spetsnaz with Boarding Shotgun</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">(at least I think that should be the list)</span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">The game itself was fairly short - so I'll not go into all that much detail. Ariadna had first turn, I deployed first.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-nBP9BxQyI_I/VZv4GdbfiiI/AAAAAAAAAjc/MTWJMJYEt_U/s1600/Battlefield.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-nBP9BxQyI_I/VZv4GdbfiiI/AAAAAAAAAjc/MTWJMJYEt_U/s400/Battlefield.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><b><br /></b></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><b>Turn 1</b></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">I'm appalled by the amount of camo tokens on the other side of the table. What I can see though, is a Dog-Face heading towards me, as well as some sword-wielding Caledonian. Another camo token is also on the move. The Dog-Face gets shot by my Nisse on ARO - and gets closer.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Once it's my turn, I have the Nisse shoot again at that Dog-Face, only to realise, that this might have gotten me into trouble! The guy goes down, only to be replaced by a freaking giant werewolf. My Hexa opens fire, too, only causes one wound and misses the second shot. The beast seems rather unfazed by this. I'm already in Shia LeBoeuf-mode (Nonononononononononono!).</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<iframe allowfullscreen="" class="YOUTUBE-iframe-video" data-thumbnail-src="https://i.ytimg.com/vi/8IXCK1EyP4s/0.jpg" frameborder="0" height="266" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/8IXCK1EyP4s?feature=player_embedded" width="320"></iframe></div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">The rest of my troops is advancing cautiously, the Father-Knight being the spearhead of my slow push forward.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-sphdx47EMFk/VZv4QnG_CUI/AAAAAAAAAjk/aOHyO2BxMHk/s1600/FK%2Bin%2Bcover.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-sphdx47EMFk/VZv4QnG_CUI/AAAAAAAAAjk/aOHyO2BxMHk/s400/FK%2Bin%2Bcover.jpg" width="300" /></a></div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><b><br /></b></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><b>Turn 2</b></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">The wolf is coming, no doubt about that. After swiftly killing the Nisse, it also takes down the Hexa, because I really suck at rolling dice. </span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-U9_G7eovdCE/VZv4Z32vFWI/AAAAAAAAAjs/fNX5ffx6I98/s1600/Nisse%2Bdown.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-U9_G7eovdCE/VZv4Z32vFWI/AAAAAAAAAjs/fNX5ffx6I98/s400/Nisse%2Bdown.jpg" width="300" /></a></div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-od8IW8otRKw/VZv4elNSAwI/AAAAAAAAAj0/NLU4TFwRto0/s1600/The%2Bwolf%2Bis%2Bcoming%2Bfor%2Blittle%2Bred%2Briding%2Bhood.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-od8IW8otRKw/VZv4elNSAwI/AAAAAAAAAj0/NLU4TFwRto0/s400/The%2Bwolf%2Bis%2Bcoming%2Bfor%2Blittle%2Bred%2Briding%2Bhood.jpg" width="300" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">The Wolf is coming for little Red Riding Hood!</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Meanwhile, the crazed Highlander guy with the sword charges the Father-Knight. I'm all "Bring it on! You're going down!" and with a fell swoop of his trusty blade, the Knight chops the poor Highlander to pieces.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">After losing my entire right flank, I bask in the glory of this little victory. But only to see how some camo token edges around the corner. My knight delays, with a Shotgun-toting Foxtrot Ranger showing up in my face and shooting at me. Now, this is the part, where I started to play badly. I don't care about the dodge, I want this guy dead. How dare he show up in my face, with no armour and a measly shotgun and threaten the mighty Father-Knight? Well, to cut that embarrassing story short: the guy shot me - shot me dead. I failed my armour rolls and that's the end of him.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">In my turn I'm down to two Fusiliers - way to go. There's a huge werewolf coming closer from the right and some crazy hillbilly with a shotgun heading in from my left side. As in every good horror movie, my two guys decide that it might be better to split up. A lone fusilier heads to the right, aims at the prowling wolf and opens fire. BAM! BAM! BAM! - One hit! ... and two misses. I'm sure the Fusilier would've paled, if he could. The werewolf is still standing and he's out for blood. I shoot again and miss all 3. I'm sure, that miniature is visibly shaking now, knowing what's about to happen soon.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><b><br /></b></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><b>Turn 3</b></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">The Foxtrot Ranger, no longer caring about hiding in shadows, rushes on and kills the Fusilier medic. The poor woman was still trying to make heads and toes of how this entire day went from sunny to blood-soaked. (I failed my ARO shot - again, in case you were wondering.) </span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-gZp7M_mn1OA/VZv4xD-xw8I/AAAAAAAAAj8/MWlkyUNn9SA/s1600/Why%2Bdid%2Bshe%2Bhave%2Bto%2Bdie%2Bso%2Byoung%253F.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-gZp7M_mn1OA/VZv4xD-xw8I/AAAAAAAAAj8/MWlkyUNn9SA/s400/Why%2Bdid%2Bshe%2Bhave%2Bto%2Bdie%2Bso%2Byoung%253F.jpg" width="300" /></a></div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">The courageous Ariadna soldiers than came up with their most shameful move: Why move the Dog-Warrior and give me the chance to ARO when you can also valiantly shoot the last fusilier in the back? Ka-Blam! The last survivor only felt searing-hot pain in his back, while he was still staring at the monster in front of him. Then everything went black.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-hI_-8pSPX84/VZv44QECosI/AAAAAAAAAkE/eWf7i_195xM/s1600/Last%2Bman%2Bdown.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-hI_-8pSPX84/VZv44QECosI/AAAAAAAAAkE/eWf7i_195xM/s400/Last%2Bman%2Bdown.jpg" width="300" /></a></div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><b><br /></b></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><b>The Result</b></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">I guess I need to face that, right? </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">It was a 10:0 baby-seal-clubbing-vicotry for Ariadna.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">I guess I should've dodged more than shot back in ARO, this might have prolonged the lives of my soldiers. But after my first hits against the Dog-Face my luck had left me. I failed almost every single dice roll I had to make. Even my opponent couldn't help but notice and tell me how sorry he was to have curb-stomped me so bad.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Ah, well, to tell the truth: the game was a lot of fun. I've never been much of a competitive player, always enjoying the company and game itself more than winning or losing. And good times were had. Paul was also a very nice and fair opponent, explaining and helping out with advice over the course of the game. So, I'd gladly play him again - hopefully with better luck next time!</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">P.S.: I also hope to write better BatReps in the future - with better pictures, too! Hope you still liked this one. Let me know in the comments below! </span><br />

<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">The army pack, which seems to contain markers, custom dice, a quick start guide for a Ranger force, paper terrain and all the new minis to get you started with USAriadna.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">The grunts, basically the cheerleaders of the sectorial, with a sweet and contemporary military look.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">A new sculpt for the Foxtrot Ranger.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-sLhqk-q9gfI/VZfHp-tk3oI/AAAAAAAAAiU/XYlZK4Zqw8U/s1600/USAriadna%2BDevil%2BDogs.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><img border="0" height="187" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-sLhqk-q9gfI/VZfHp-tk3oI/AAAAAAAAAiU/XYlZK4Zqw8U/s400/USAriadna%2BDevil%2BDogs.png" width="400" /></span></a></div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Some Dog-Warriors, aptly named Devil Dogs, which are, to no surprise, members of the USAriadna Marine Corps.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-AH-rjZIM9EY/VZfH4GG68UI/AAAAAAAAAic/_TZS_kbi1O0/s1600/USAriadna%2BMinute%2BMen.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><img border="0" height="205" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-AH-rjZIM9EY/VZfH4GG68UI/AAAAAAAAAic/_TZS_kbi1O0/s400/USAriadna%2BMinute%2BMen.png" width="400" /></span></a></div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Another resculpt - the 5th Minutemen.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-m21mF0-WbCs/VZfIE-mRohI/AAAAAAAAAik/j0BmpmPXlOo/s1600/USAriadna%2BMavericks.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><img border="0" height="223" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-m21mF0-WbCs/VZfIE-mRohI/AAAAAAAAAik/j0BmpmPXlOo/s400/USAriadna%2BMavericks.png" width="400" /></span></a></div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">The new motorised recon unit - the Maverick.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-QosJIKZ-c0I/VZfIVuYy5II/AAAAAAAAAis/n_cg2PP5FdE/s1600/USAriadna%2BNavajo%2BOutpost%2BPack.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><img border="0" height="177" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-QosJIKZ-c0I/VZfIVuYy5II/AAAAAAAAAis/n_cg2PP5FdE/s400/USAriadna%2BNavajo%2BOutpost%2BPack.png" width="400" /></span></a></div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Then there's the Navajo Outpost pack - a new variation on the Icestorm Moto.tronica terrain.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-6-EQ1r3P5C0/VZfI07MuovI/AAAAAAAAAi0/9VRJSL2MGvU/s1600/USAriadna%2BExclusive%2BMaverick.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><img border="0" height="245" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-6-EQ1r3P5C0/VZfI07MuovI/AAAAAAAAAi0/9VRJSL2MGvU/s400/USAriadna%2BExclusive%2BMaverick.png" width="400" /></span></a></div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">And of course, Corvus Belli wouldn't be Corvus Belli, if they wouldn't offer a nice incentive for preorders. The army pack will include a dismounted version of the Maverick biker girl for all preorders.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">I'm totally psyched for this box - lots of nice minis, lots of cool contemporary-looking troops. I think I've gotta get one. Will you?</span><br />

<span style="clear: left; float: left; font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="Corvus Belli Infinity the Game June new releases" border="0" height="139" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-bHy5O3I58tg/VZaAxYlI5xI/AAAAAAAAAg4/gtzulrvUtKk/s640/June%2Bnew%2Breleases.jpg" title="Infinity the Game June new releases" width="640" /></span></div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Another month has gone by already. So Corvus Belli revealed a flurry of new Infinity releases which I don't wanna keep from you. Factions with new stuff in June were Ariadna, Yu Jing, Haqqislam, Tohaa and Combined Army.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<br />
<a name='more'></a><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Alright let's start with the probably biggest release for a lot of Infinity fans - the first new model for the upcoming USAriadna sectorial - the Hardcase with tactical bow. If you always wanted a mashup of Rambo 2 and Walker: Texas Ranger, well, here you go.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-RPi9xVWxfNI/VZaA_nz0CYI/AAAAAAAAAhA/SujH_FRkLjk/s1600/Ariadna%2BHardcase.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><img alt="Hardcase Tactical Bow" border="0" height="225" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-RPi9xVWxfNI/VZaA_nz0CYI/AAAAAAAAAhA/SujH_FRkLjk/s400/Ariadna%2BHardcase.jpg" title="USAriadna Hardcase" width="400" /></span></a></div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Next up is a new Invincible sculpt for Yu Jing. This one is similar to the one released at the beginning of the year, but sporting a beefy HMC. Really love the pose with it's lumbering gait.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-5WzEXnwDziE/VZaBFX9lJLI/AAAAAAAAAhI/HYsLzkltNIg/s1600/Yu%2BJing%2BInvincible.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><img alt="Invincible with HMC" border="0" height="190" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-5WzEXnwDziE/VZaBFX9lJLI/AAAAAAAAAhI/HYsLzkltNIg/s400/Yu%2BJing%2BInvincible.jpg" title="Yu Jing invincible" width="400" /></span></a></div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">The Tohaa get a new Igao with a Boarding Shotgun - I wish I could say more about him, but I have really no clue on that faction. I like the more action-oriented pose, makes him look pretty deadly and menacing.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-00a722jxJ6s/VZaBKtxh2SI/AAAAAAAAAhQ/AxRIPbynJxs/s1600/Tohaa%2BIgao.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><img alt="Igao with Boarding Shotgun" border="0" height="225" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-00a722jxJ6s/VZaBKtxh2SI/AAAAAAAAAhQ/AxRIPbynJxs/s400/Tohaa%2BIgao.jpg" title="Tohaa Igao" width="400" /></span></a></div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">The weirdest release this month, at least for me, is the Combined Army support pack. I know that CA has a variety of weird troops, but wow, here's their doctor and engineer, the Obsidon Mechanoid with two slave drones, essentially a big worm with 2 smaller ones.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-VPuvDm6kcmE/VZaBO-JNNGI/AAAAAAAAAhY/_MsSFclPyyQ/s1600/CA%2BSupport%2BPack.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><img alt="Obsidon Mechanoid" border="0" height="190" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-VPuvDm6kcmE/VZaBO-JNNGI/AAAAAAAAAhY/_MsSFclPyyQ/s400/CA%2BSupport%2BPack.jpg" title="Combined Army Support Pack" width="400" /></span></a></div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Haqqislam take the last spot on this month's releases - a box set of Janissaries, consisting of 3 models and a tin-bot. They look pretty cool, making it harder and harder for me to choose a second faction, the two most serious contenders being the upcoming USAriadna and Aleph with a variety of awesome minis.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-FAeemb7Sx_o/VZaBTMwnriI/AAAAAAAAAhg/Z61fQUmshS4/s1600/Haqqislam%2BJanissaries.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><img alt="Haqqislam Janissaries" border="0" height="167" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-FAeemb7Sx_o/VZaBTMwnriI/AAAAAAAAAhg/Z61fQUmshS4/s400/Haqqislam%2BJanissaries.jpg" title="Haqqislam Janissary Box" width="400" /></span></a></div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">We are also getting closer and closer to GenCon 2015, which will supposedly feature the big launch of the USAriadna sectorial. Expect some abolutely lovely miniatures heading our way, folks!</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>

<span style="clear: left; float: left; font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="Crisis suit commander urban" border="0" height="616" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-I8V0OLtDFV0/VXbhBgBPPHI/AAAAAAAAAgQ/qgRymQ2AfAQ/s640/Tau_commander_side.png" title="Tau crisis suit commander cityfight" width="640" /></span></div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Time for another showcase, fellas! Here's my current Tau Commander in his crisis suit, at least until Games Workshop releases a resculpt of the XV-8s. This was my first crisis suit ever, so I decided to try out a couple of things with it.</span><br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">As with most Tau players, I ended up converting the suit a bit. I cut some of the leg joints and repositioned them, added a fin / antenna on the top of it's head and also armoured the knee joints with shoulder guards from the Fire Warriors sprue.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Painting-wise, I wanted to set the commander apart from the line infantry and my Fireblade. I went for a greenish grey, similar to what I used on my <a href="http://kungfusedcreations.blogspot.de/2013/08/eye-candy-40k-tau-stealth-suits.html" target="_blank">stealth suits</a>. I kept the purple lenses and orange markings to tie it in with the rest of the army, though.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span></div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">I gotta admit - I wasn't a big fan of the design of the XV-8. Even the painting was challenging, with all those panel lines needing highlights. But once I had it sitting on my desk, finished, in all it's glory, I was surprised. The design had grown on me, the OSL on the plasma rifle and shield added a nice element to the overall look.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">So, in the end, I'm quite happy with the result and enjoy fielding the commander. He's a pretty tough nut to crack on the tabletop, with his dark gritty look adding to his overall threat level.</span>Kenzahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13747152644986025891noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5020133261150902369.post-60678135468912670012015-06-03T12:13:00.000+02:002015-07-09T12:36:43.692+02:00Infinity May new releases<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br /></span><span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><a href="http://www.infinitythegame.com/" target="_blank">Infinity</a> new releases are out! Seems like Corvus Belli is on a roll right now. The May line up includes minis for the following factions: PanOceania, Haqqislam, Combined Army, Nomads and Aleph. And boy, do they look great.</span><br />
<a name='more'></a><span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br /></span><span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br /></span><span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">PanO gets a new release this month. After the resculpt of the Aquila Guard in April, May brings another new design for an old model: the Croc Man. While the pose might be a bit static, the mini looks badass. I need this one in my collection for sure.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br /></span><span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br /></span><span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">Haqqislam also got some nice resculpts. Anyone remember the old Naffatûn? No? Yup, that's right, those were pretty old and not in line with the newer releases. So CB decided to redo them. They now come clad in what looks like heavy flak armour, in a box of 4. The more new stuff I see coming out of CB, the more I'm torn between picking Haqqislam or Ariadna as my next faction.</span><br />

<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br /></span><span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">The Combined Army got another treat, continuing the new look from their current starter, with a new Umbra Legates, now in a running pose. <span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br /></span><span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br /></span><span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">Then there's the Nomads: You guys get a new Intruder with HMG. <span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br /></span><span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">But wait, there's more. How about a hot librarian, all geared up for combat? I'm talking about Scylla and Drakios here, the new Aleph release. These two are your new NCOs for the Steel Phalanx:</span><br />

<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">That's May's releases in a nutshell. The Croc Man is a must-buy for my PanO forces and as mentioned above, Haqqislam is growing on me with every new release. I'm still holding off on any decision for a second faction until we get to see some USAriadna though.</span><br />

Hey all, I thought it was about time to show more pictures of my growing Tau force for Warhammer 40K. So here's my first squad of Fire Warriors - part of my Sa'Cea sept city fight cadre. I painted them to tabletop standard to keep my sanity considering how much more of these I have to paint.Kenzahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13747152644986025891noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5020133261150902369.post-39712971162671358682015-05-26T13:00:00.000+02:002015-07-09T12:37:11.692+02:00DataSphere Painting Competition: Part 5<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">Welcome to the last part of this series. After the Authorized Bounty Hunter is basically done, it's time to tackle the base and take a final picture for the Q2 painting competition over at <a href="http://www.data-sphere.net/" target="_blank">Data Sphere</a>. So, let's get going, deadline is at the end of May.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br /></span>
<br />
<a name='more'></a><span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">I wanted the base to fit in with the rest of my army, but also wanted it to stand out a bit - I'm painting for a competition, any extra mile you can go, you usually should go. After pondering my possibilites, I settled on putting some spotlights or light markings on the floor - the stuff you will find in airports and hi-tech loading docks. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">I actually had some plastic piping in my extended bitz box and cut very tiny slivers from it and glued them to the base. I also cut tiny pieces from thin plastic rod and glued them to the base, too, to serve as spent shells.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br /></span>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-152LcsvhkyY/VWL2fHqYzTI/AAAAAAAAAdA/Wwgi9AQfNEc/s1600/Base_built.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-152LcsvhkyY/VWL2fHqYzTI/AAAAAAAAAdA/Wwgi9AQfNEc/s400/Base_built.png" width="305" /></a></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-jcmjgRdRgKw/VWL2e-2QVUI/AAAAAAAAAc8/y9GHdDL7W2Y/s1600/Base_basecoat.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-jcmjgRdRgKw/VWL2e-2QVUI/AAAAAAAAAc8/y9GHdDL7W2Y/s400/Base_basecoat.png" width="287" /></a></span></div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">After priming the base, I went for my basecoat mix, that I used for most of my PanOceania army - some GW Zandri Dust and Baneblade Brown with a bit of P3 Cryx Base Highlight. I added a good amount of Zandri Dust and GW Rakarth Flesh to the mix and drybrushed the brighter colour on, moving from the center to the brim with my brush, thus making the brim the lighter area. That way, I get a shadowed area where the mini is supposed to stand. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br /></span>
<br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">The second highlight consisted of Rakarth Flesh with P3 Menoth White Highlight, that I brushed on very gently, so that the brighter colour wouldn't cover to much from the previous step. I also only applied it to the brim area.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">The base looks pretty rough now - time for some washes/glazes. I used a combination of Devlan Mud, Umbral Umber and Battlefield Brown for this, giving it a darker tint. The glazes were applied in the opposite way from the highlights, from the edge to the center. Now it looks a lot smoother, but still not all that great. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br /></span>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-ZH07-qfK8Iw/VWL2fy4mpLI/AAAAAAAAAdM/OvA0Xt21SW8/s1600/Base_drybrushed.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-ZH07-qfK8Iw/VWL2fy4mpLI/AAAAAAAAAdM/OvA0Xt21SW8/s400/Base_drybrushed.png" width="286" /></a></span></div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">The spotlights were painted with the same grey tones used for the armour of the ABH (see <a href="http://kungfusedcreations.blogspot.de/2015/04/data-sphere-painting-competition-part-2.html" target="_blank">part 2</a>), to have some part of the base link to the colours of the mini itself. The center of the lights was painted pure white. With some thinned down P3 Exile Blue and Turqoise Ink I applied glaze after glaze over the white surface, letting each layer dry before applying the next. To finish them off, a dot of white was added to the center of each spotlight.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">The bullet casings were easy. To paint yellow, I usually start off a brown basecoat, in this case again some Zandri Dust. The next step comprised of lots of GW Sundburst Yellow and P3 Sulufuric Yellow added to the mix. I then highlighted the edges with some pure off-white, Menoth White Highlight in this case.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br /></span>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-hgkyHyQBmSg/VWL2fi2DRVI/AAAAAAAAAdE/g1MHM57W2KA/s1600/Base_details.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-hgkyHyQBmSg/VWL2fi2DRVI/AAAAAAAAAdE/g1MHM57W2KA/s400/Base_details.png" width="283" /></a></span></div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">I wasn't happy with the base yet - it needed more work. Freehands are always a great way to enhance a too plain look. If you fell uneasy about trying freehands, try them on your bases. There's almost no harm done on a base and if you are unhappy, simply paint over the failed try. As you might have seen on the rest of my army, I used numbers and letters on the bases, similar to loading bays or tech areas. I paint them with GW Ulthuan Grey, which gives a nice, weathered white look. Speaking of weathering, I added some dents and scratches to the surface of the base. By mixing Battlefield Brown with some black, I applied tiny dots and lines to the surface of the base. Easy enough, right? But to get a believable scratch or dent, you need to paint a brighter dot or line (from the previous drybrushing steps) right next to i. This way, you create the optical illusion of a raised edge next to a depressed area. Neat, huh?</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br /></span>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-VIunEGOvuhs/VWL0AdlilmI/AAAAAAAAAco/UeBCLQlKIi0/s1600/Base_finished.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-VIunEGOvuhs/VWL0AdlilmI/AAAAAAAAAco/UeBCLQlKIi0/s400/Base_finished.png" width="293" /></a></span></div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"> </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">So, the base is done. I'll put the mini in the display case for now and look at it a few times over the next few days to see if I'm satisfied or feel that there's something missing. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">In the meantime, head over to the <a href="http://www.data-sphere.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=2838" target="_blank">thread of the painting competition</a> and have a look at the other entries. <span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-7ed1YNSvH_Y/VVsgyzevnRI/AAAAAAAAAbI/VpSxACKENoo/s1600/BoltAction.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-7ed1YNSvH_Y/VVsgyzevnRI/AAAAAAAAAbI/VpSxACKENoo/s400/BoltAction.JPG" width="400" /></a></span></div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">Last weekend, I traveled to Cologne for RPC - the <a href="http://www.rpc-germany.de/" target="_blank">Role Play Convention 2016</a>. Planning to play some Infinity, I already knew that Cons like these can also be dangerous as all hell to my wallet - I know Spiel last year was. I wasn't prepared for all the crazyness at RPC, though.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br /></span>
<br />
<a name='more'></a><span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">Turns out RPC is a big meeting place for all the LARPers and Cosplayers from the Rhineland area. So it didn't take long till I ran into the first Stormtroopers and a Snowtrooper. From there it got crazier and crazier, the crowd was a mix of Princesses, Manga Characters, Orcs, Hobbits, Elves, Pirates, Steampunk people and Star Wars Costumes. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">I'd be lying if I said I wasn't at least curious about buying some armour and getting in on that fun. I didn't though, since I really have no intention to spend a weekend running through the woods and playing Orcs & Elves. I unfortunately just don't have the intensity necessary for that.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">But now onto what's really hot for a tabletop gamer like me. There were several cool display tables at RPC, which had me ooohing and aaahing with glee.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br /></span>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-7ed1YNSvH_Y/VVsgyzevnRI/AAAAAAAAAbI/VpSxACKENoo/s1600/BoltAction.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-7ed1YNSvH_Y/VVsgyzevnRI/AAAAAAAAAbI/VpSxACKENoo/s400/BoltAction.JPG" width="400" /></a></span></div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">I'm used to cool looking <a href="http://www.flamesofwar.com/" target="_blank">Flames of War</a> tables but had never seen the larger scale version of a <a href="http://www.warlordgames.com/bolt-action/" target="_blank">BoltAction</a> Table. Impressive!</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br /></span>

<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">There's also a huge <a href="http://privateerpress.com/" target="_blank">Warmachine</a> display. Since I am not all that familiar with the game and setting anymore, I can only assume this is supposed to be some battle with Menoth - those were the desert guys, right?</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br /></span>

<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">I also got a chance to see a live version of a <a href="https://www.miniaturescenery.com/" target="_blank">CNC Workshop</a> table. Damn, those are awesome. I had to buy that Tori (japanese gate), as I've been oogling that thing for a while now. Not having to pay shipping from OZ to Germany was a big incentive here. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br /></span>

<br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><a href="http://www.ulisses-spiele.de/" target="_blank">Ulisses</a> had a nice display of several Infinity miniatures at their booth. That O-Yoroi TAG looked fantastic. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br /></span>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-asQXVUOLX1g/VVslCAUDKvI/AAAAAAAAAcM/71gYuzKYoY0/s1600/IMG_7044.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-asQXVUOLX1g/VVslCAUDKvI/AAAAAAAAAcM/71gYuzKYoY0/s400/IMG_7044.JPG" width="400" /></a></span></div>

<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"> </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">I also got to play a nice little game of Infinity at the <a href="http://www.microartstudio.com/" target="_blank">Micro Art Studio</a> booth, which was great fun. Although I had some trouble concentrating on the game with loads of people in costumes walking by and looking awesome. The board was comprised entirely of the MAS stuff, of course, but that way I had an opportunity to check out their gaming mats up close. Very cool product, I also liked the look of their Wolsung game, which is more of a steampunky skirmish game, it seems.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">I had a fun time and enjoyed it a lot. I think I'll sign up for 2016, too. </span><br />

<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-BSvLdZ02l34/VVZmYU_XVXI/AAAAAAAAAac/WdM1vxvFApU/s1600/ABH-almostdone.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-BSvLdZ02l34/VVZmYU_XVXI/AAAAAAAAAac/WdM1vxvFApU/s320/ABH-almostdone.png" width="251" /></a></span></div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">Welcome back to my work in progress posts for <a href="http://www.data-sphere.net/" target="_blank">Data Sphere</a>'s current painting competition. This is part 4 of the series, where I paint the Infinity Authorized Bounty Hunter. There's only 2 and a half weeks left before the deadline end of May. But I'm close to being done.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br /></span>
<a name='more'></a><span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">This time I dealt with the details left to do: the rucksack, webbing, the gun and the visor. </span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-uBUyR7C9emo/VVZmy6-tLtI/AAAAAAAAAak/mzOLevDfkoc/s1600/ABH-front.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-uBUyR7C9emo/VVZmy6-tLtI/AAAAAAAAAak/mzOLevDfkoc/s400/ABH-front.png" width="281" /></a></span></div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">First I shaded the dark grey basecoat of rucksack and webbing, using GW Badab Black with some Abaddon Black added in for an even darker shade. This brought out all the details again. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">My highlights for the black parts are very similar to how I do black armour, only foregoing the last step, which seemed to bright for something like black nylon gear (or whatever that stuff is acutally made of, never checked mine).while going all the way up to pure white on the weapon. </span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-mfEvfLizwjY/VVZm6XOlczI/AAAAAAAAAas/ppaApRasa2k/s1600/ABH-back.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-mfEvfLizwjY/VVZm6XOlczI/AAAAAAAAAas/ppaApRasa2k/s400/ABH-back.png" width="327" /></a></span></div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br /></span>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-PDSdrdUDXT0/VVZm6YLnToI/AAAAAAAAAaw/Y52N7k-aqvk/s1600/ABH-sideback.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-PDSdrdUDXT0/VVZm6YLnToI/AAAAAAAAAaw/Y52N7k-aqvk/s400/ABH-sideback.png" width="291" /></a></span></div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">From there I moved on to the visor. I'd been trying to figure out, which colour to choose. Then I looked at the original concept art:</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br /></span>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-aPMaUQVdkek/VVCmMKcqf5I/AAAAAAAAAZU/ZjXsmY1_3Y0/s1600/Authorised-Bounty-Hunter-Art.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="282" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-aPMaUQVdkek/VVCmMKcqf5I/AAAAAAAAAZU/ZjXsmY1_3Y0/s400/Authorised-Bounty-Hunter-Art.jpg" width="400" /></a></span></div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">Purple it is, then, and it goes nicely with that green coat.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">You think, we are done here, right? Nope. Now comes the important stuff - touch-ups. For most tabletop-quality minis, you can easily ignore this step. But if you are aiming for competition level or are just a pedantic, detail-obsessed nerd like me, this is pretty important. The black backpack and webbing, f'rex, seemed somwaht flat to me. So I grabbed some P3 Umbral Umber (a reddish brown) and some devlan mud, mixed a glaze and applied it to the black areas. For good measure, and some worn, sort-of used look, I also applied it to the gun. Much better! </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">I then used pure white to go over some minor edges that I wanted to look crisper, did some minor devlan mud washes on the lower parts of most curved sections and the muscles and did some final blacklining.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br /></span>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-BSvLdZ02l34/VVZmYU_XVXI/AAAAAAAAAac/WdM1vxvFApU/s1600/ABH-almostdone.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-BSvLdZ02l34/VVZmYU_XVXI/AAAAAAAAAac/WdM1vxvFApU/s400/ABH-almostdone.png" width="313" /></a></span></div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">So, the miniature itself is done. All there is to do...scrap that! One of the most important things of a miniature is left to do: the base. I'll tell you more about it in the final part of the series.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">If you got any comments or questions, let me know! If you are curious about other entries into the competition, check the <a href="http://www.data-sphere.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=2838" target="_blank">offical thread</a> over on Data Sphere's forums. You'll find lots of great work and inspiration there.</span><br />

<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">I figured I hadn't shown you my Ork Nob yet, that I entered in a painting competition of my local Games Workshop last year. So here it is - in my new sub-section Showcase!</span><br />
<a name='more'></a><span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">Sometime last year, my local Games Workshop offered a painting competition each month during summer. Each one had a specific theme or unit entry as a topic. When they announced teh one for 40K infnatry models, I was all in. Looking at my pile of shame, I tried to figure out what model to do. I settled on an Ork Nob.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-rnonOIZRr8A/VVG-x3lEkWI/AAAAAAAAAZw/y8GV6RE6e3w/s1600/Ork_Nob_Front_big.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-rnonOIZRr8A/VVG-x3lEkWI/AAAAAAAAAZw/y8GV6RE6e3w/s400/Ork_Nob_Front_big.png" width="353" /></a></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-yE1RXFe6QBs/VVG-2oXekQI/AAAAAAAAAZ4/IdNY-IeyZOY/s1600/Ork_Nob_Back.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-yE1RXFe6QBs/VVG-2oXekQI/AAAAAAAAAZ4/IdNY-IeyZOY/s400/Ork_Nob_Back.png" width="312" /></a></span></div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br /></span>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Bvi61kYstng/VVG-2nhf58I/AAAAAAAAAZ8/xq7GftdihuY/s1600/Ork_Nob_Side.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Bvi61kYstng/VVG-2nhf58I/AAAAAAAAAZ8/xq7GftdihuY/s400/Ork_Nob_Side.png" width="318" /></a></span></div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br />I've always loved Nobs - not only do they look cool. Their model kit also offers a ton of bitz to add variety to them. So I had a lot of fun painting it. To make it stand out a bit, I painted some hazard stripes as a freehand on the axe and tried to add a lot of character.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-uvdH6oY69VI/VVG_H1430eI/AAAAAAAAAaI/NsIozlHn3_I/s1600/Ork_Nob_CloseUp_Axe.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="297" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-uvdH6oY69VI/VVG_H1430eI/AAAAAAAAAaI/NsIozlHn3_I/s400/Ork_Nob_CloseUp_Axe.png" width="400" /></a></span></div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">
I actually won that competition. The visitors of the store were the ones to decide, with one week time to hand in a vote. I wasn't sure if I had a chance, since I wasn't a regular and the voting was only semi-anonymous - most regulars knew, who had handed in what. Looking back, I had tons of fun painting the mini and enjoyed the challenge of the competition.</span>Kenzahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13747152644986025891noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5020133261150902369.post-36182959601349349602015-05-08T11:45:00.000+02:002015-05-26T13:09:02.731+02:00Data Sphere Painting Competition: Part 3<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br /></span>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-B6Cu-nE2GDA/VUvDJ_W8NqI/AAAAAAAAAXw/u0A891SBq7Q/s1600/Coat_Highlight%2Bfront.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-B6Cu-nE2GDA/VUvDJ_W8NqI/AAAAAAAAAXw/u0A891SBq7Q/s400/Coat_Highlight%2Bfront.png" width="273" /></a></span></div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><a href="http://www.data-sphere.net/" target="_blank">Data Sphere</a>'s Infinity painting competition is drawing to a close by the end of May. Time to finish the Authorized Bounty Hunter for my PanOceania army. </span><br />
<a name='more'></a><span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">As I mentioned in <a href="http://kungfusedcreations.blogspot.de/2015/04/datasphere-painting-competition-wip.html" target="_blank">Part 1</a> of the competition posts, I wanted to go with a sort of Briareos look.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-7eg40Xeejfw/VSqu9tI0zVI/AAAAAAAAAQw/x5ZnW42uAVg/s1600/appleseed.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="223" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-7eg40Xeejfw/VSqu9tI0zVI/AAAAAAAAAQw/x5ZnW42uAVg/s400/appleseed.jpg" width="400" /></a></span></div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">So I decided to go with a green jacket, black webbing and rucksack. I mixed up some P3 Wurm Green with some good ol' GW Catachan Green (two of my favorite colours) and started painting the coat.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-wd2jZsJP-8I/VUvDbtzaEeI/AAAAAAAAAX4/NS-jcmUBj7Q/s1600/Coat_base_front.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-wd2jZsJP-8I/VUvDbtzaEeI/AAAAAAAAAX4/NS-jcmUBj7Q/s400/Coat_base_front.png" width="301" /></a></span></div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">To get a better idea of the overall look of the now decided colour scheme, I blocked in the dark grey for the black webbing, too. It consisted of my standard recipe of GW Abaddon Black and Mechanicum Grey.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-R6ZTvjMQzBI/VUvDwMAfuNI/AAAAAAAAAYA/hbSNGFMjNBo/s1600/Coat_base_otherside.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-R6ZTvjMQzBI/VUvDwMAfuNI/AAAAAAAAAYA/hbSNGFMjNBo/s400/Coat_base_otherside.png" width="286" /></a></span></div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br /></span>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-0-UP6x9H9P8/VUvD2HTHRKI/AAAAAAAAAYI/ANrOOyCWn6w/s1600/Coat_base_back.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-0-UP6x9H9P8/VUvD2HTHRKI/AAAAAAAAAYI/ANrOOyCWn6w/s400/Coat_base_back.png" width="295" /></a></span></div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br /></span>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-spwCnmYsiQs/VUvD3EM_WpI/AAAAAAAAAYQ/8sYeWaTjquE/s1600/Coat_base_side.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-spwCnmYsiQs/VUvD3EM_WpI/AAAAAAAAAYQ/8sYeWaTjquE/s400/Coat_base_side.png" width="275" /></a></span></div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">Shading was up next. For green colours I tend to choose browns to create definition and shadows. A few grabs at my colour shelf and I had it: P3 Battlefield Brown, some GW Devlan Mud, some water and with a few dabs of my trusty washing brush (an old and battered Windsor & Newton Series 7 Size 1) I added some shade and got the details of the coat to pop out some. Important notes: never hurry those washes! Let them dry thoroughly, never let the shade pool in recesses too much and pull the shade from light to dark areas, so that most of the dark pigment will end up in the darkest areas of the mini.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Vnua1tHPtIo/VUvEPIJnrYI/AAAAAAAAAYY/cP3zW2YK8lA/s1600/Coat_Shade_back.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Vnua1tHPtIo/VUvEPIJnrYI/AAAAAAAAAYY/cP3zW2YK8lA/s400/Coat_Shade_back.png" width="263" /></a></span></div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br /></span>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-HHOiZPBDu4Q/VUvEPTabBLI/AAAAAAAAAYc/P0Qu_2-jJMw/s1600/Coat_Shade_side.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-HHOiZPBDu4Q/VUvEPTabBLI/AAAAAAAAAYc/P0Qu_2-jJMw/s400/Coat_Shade_side.png" width="285" /></a></span></div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">Satisfied with the previous step, I moved on to the highlights. Using the basecoat, I applied a first thin coat, now moving from dark to light areas with the brush. Consecutively, more Wurm Green, then GW Sunburst Yellow and finally some P3 Menoth White Base were added to the mix. I used that last mix to very carefully highlight all the edges of the coat. </span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-_-bP_239tvs/VUvGbWto9nI/AAAAAAAAAYo/OWdYUEzYsvE/s1600/Coat_Highlight%2Bfront.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-_-bP_239tvs/VUvGbWto9nI/AAAAAAAAAYo/OWdYUEzYsvE/s400/Coat_Highlight%2Bfront.png" width="273" /></a></span></div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br /></span>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-tJiR6NQiDm0/VUvGuACZZFI/AAAAAAAAAY4/UkMuwpcuLaU/s1600/Coat_Highlight-back.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-tJiR6NQiDm0/VUvGuACZZFI/AAAAAAAAAY4/UkMuwpcuLaU/s400/Coat_Highlight-back.png" width="286" /></a></span></div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br /></span>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-DECof55054g/VUvGboi_8kI/AAAAAAAAAYs/q1UUTjjKRTE/s1600/Coat_Highlight_side.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-DECof55054g/VUvGboi_8kI/AAAAAAAAAYs/q1UUTjjKRTE/s400/Coat_Highlight_side.png" width="295" /></a></span></div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">The green turned out to be pretty bright. Aiming for a more military look, I mixed Catachan Green and water to get a darker green glaze and applied it carefully to the surface of the coat to tone the look down a bit. </span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-tmHPHa1Un8M/VUvHcIdyRmI/AAAAAAAAAZA/tEwV5F4qSWA/s1600/GreenCoat_final.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-tmHPHa1Un8M/VUvHcIdyRmI/AAAAAAAAAZA/tEwV5F4qSWA/s400/GreenCoat_final.png" width="291" /></a></span></div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">So, the coat is done and I'm pretty happy with the result. I ended up with a lighter version than originally intended, but that green still looks kinda striking. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">Part 4 will be about painting rifle and webbing. If I find enough time, I'll try to get to the base, too. Right now, everything looks like I'll make the deadline. If you are curious to see, what my competitors are up to, take a look <a href="http://www.data-sphere.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=2838" target="_blank">here</a>. There's lots of pretty cool entries to gawk at.</span><br />

<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">Wondering what Corvus Belli's new releases for April look like? They've got a stunning line up in store for us. The Aquila Guard, new 45th Highlander Rifles, the Kaeltar Specialists, the Fraacta Drop Unit and the awesome new Tiger Soldier.</span><br />
<a name='more'></a><span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">First of all, PanOceania got a resculpt of the Aquila Guard, with updated looks more in line with the recent ORC Trooper sculpt:</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-eBIIB4k4vow/VUiRt45ZMNI/AAAAAAAAAWs/scMpjqrHc2k/s1600/11157474_10152985236243842_6783471779578922183_o.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="225" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-eBIIB4k4vow/VUiRt45ZMNI/AAAAAAAAAWs/scMpjqrHc2k/s400/11157474_10152985236243842_6783471779578922183_o.jpg" width="400" /></a></span></div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">Next up, they really delivered on the new Tiger Soldiers - that guy looks awesome. I love the tiger-esque faceplate:</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-qSA_48IDolI/VUiR_QXWS2I/AAAAAAAAAW0/iEw4OGPvAi8/s1600/11155128_10152985236233842_2746864995179182612_o.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="225" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-qSA_48IDolI/VUiR_QXWS2I/AAAAAAAAAW0/iEw4OGPvAi8/s400/11155128_10152985236233842_2746864995179182612_o.jpg" width="400" /></a></span></div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">The Combined Army got their own little treat with a nes Fraacta Drop Unit, a nice addition to the recent new starter pack for that faction: </span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-yU3DbX1gzdY/VUiSRWaDqRI/AAAAAAAAAW8/D0EFVub2nSQ/s1600/11201144_10152985236473842_927883038111846617_o.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="225" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-yU3DbX1gzdY/VUiSRWaDqRI/AAAAAAAAAW8/D0EFVub2nSQ/s400/11201144_10152985236473842_927883038111846617_o.jpg" width="400" /></a></span></div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">Then there's the release that Tom and Kip from Mayacast teased about on one of their recent shows - the Kaeltar Specialists for the Tohaa, along with their cute Pokemon-like little helpers:</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-6slpEvJLS8M/VUiSpVBfFcI/AAAAAAAAAXE/84sIJaIkBOE/s1600/11187398_10152985236503842_7866800029924208295_o.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="190" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-6slpEvJLS8M/VUiSpVBfFcI/AAAAAAAAAXE/84sIJaIkBOE/s400/11187398_10152985236503842_7866800029924208295_o.jpg" width="400" /></a></span></div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">And now for the real kicker - the new 45th Highlander rifle resculpts of Ariadna:</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-N42wQQ_X8UI/VUiS5dMIF4I/AAAAAAAAAXM/yQnUL8Rv7kQ/s1600/11154793_10152985236223842_7192753721359001084_o.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="190" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-N42wQQ_X8UI/VUiS5dMIF4I/AAAAAAAAAXM/yQnUL8Rv7kQ/s400/11154793_10152985236223842_7192753721359001084_o.jpg" width="400" /></a></span></div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">Notice something? Check out the guy with the sword. Here's another shot:</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-6kwHRfn40w8/VUiTHwGS3qI/AAAAAAAAAXU/G-3NSPaB-JA/s1600/22723_10152985242908842_7592950405239943546_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="358" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-6kwHRfn40w8/VUiTHwGS3qI/AAAAAAAAAXU/G-3NSPaB-JA/s640/22723_10152985242908842_7592950405239943546_n.jpg" width="640" /></a></span></div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">That is Connor MacLeod right there - THE Highlander. I'd say the box is a must buy for any Caledonia players out there. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">But there's one more release - Corvus Belli's partner Customeeple release a card deck for all the classified objectives in N3. The card designs look ace:</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-U8GHLpr3NjQ/VUiTxsVkfOI/AAAAAAAAAXc/iYBz7W4Cl00/s1600/11203113_10152985236488842_3509462610213435851_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-U8GHLpr3NjQ/VUiTxsVkfOI/AAAAAAAAAXc/iYBz7W4Cl00/s400/11203113_10152985236488842_3509462610213435851_n.jpg" width="400" /></a></span></div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">So that's it for April. I can't wait to see, what they got in store for us in May. Will we finally see Stingray-series TAGs? USAriadna? Can't wait!</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br /></span>

<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-siHNHDoAwkE/VUG-0kzM3OI/AAAAAAAAAVo/hmYBm4zKLxE/s1600/IMG_6647.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-siHNHDoAwkE/VUG-0kzM3OI/AAAAAAAAAVo/hmYBm4zKLxE/s1600/IMG_6647.JPG" width="320" /></a></span></div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">Hey folks, in case some of you might miss the 40K content on here or aren't all that interested in Infinity (why wouldn't you? Check it out now!:) ), here's some good ol' GW for you. I got to play my good friend David and an epic battle ensued between his Sentinels of Terra and my Tau.</span><br />
<a name='more'></a><span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">Some background first: David is one of the original guys I started 40K with back in the mid-90's. Back then he was a powergaming Eldar player. But in more recent times he's sided with the Imperium of Man and is currently playtesting his Sentinels of Terra. Since we get to game very rarely nowadays, due to being grown up and responsible adults or whaddayacallit, every game is a big event for us. And it always feels like our first game - meaning no one remembers all the rules.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">Anyways, here's some pictures of what went down:</span><br />

<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">Unfortunately, both our armies have still a way to go until they're fully painted.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">Now for the game itself - we basically played 40K 6.5, meaning we use 6th ed rules, but have integrated 7th ed tactical objectives for less gunline action. The mission was "Big guns never tire" and the game went according to that - big explosions and lots of slaughter.</span><br />

<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">Our highlights were a nasty orbital bombardment that took out my Broadside, the Pathfinders who killed a Land Raider Crusader with EMP 'nades, teleporting Terminators killing said Pathfinders and the roll for 6th round.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br /></span>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">The game went back and forth with me taking heavy losses in turn 2, but getting some good ol' revenge in turn 3. From there on out it was absolute mayhem and a blast to play. In the end, though, the Imperial Fists won a close victory, with 11:9 for grabbing another tactical objective in the last round and getting 2 measely marines into my area of deployment. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">To be honest - the game was great! I love the insanity of Warhammer, it's like watching the last hour of Avengers 2 unfold on a tabletop. Thanks for the great game, David, I hope to do this again soon. Maybe with a more proper battle report.</span><br />

<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">Hello everyone. During the weekend I found some time to continue working on my entry in <a href="http://www.data-sphere.net/" target="_blank">Data Sphere</a>'s painting competition. As you might have seen in <a href="http://kungfusedcreations.blogspot.de/2015/04/datasphere-painting-competition-wip.html" target="_blank">Part 1</a>, I'm currently painting the Authorized Bounty Hunter limited edition model. </span><br />
<a name='more'></a><span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">After last time's slight problems with airbrush sputter, that left me with this:</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br /></span>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-I3YjRFFlmiQ/VSqvuRFCmzI/AAAAAAAAARA/gxorqclhZoI/s1600/AB%2B1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-I3YjRFFlmiQ/VSqvuRFCmzI/AAAAAAAAARA/gxorqclhZoI/s1600/AB%2B1.jpg" width="240" /></a></span></div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">I managed to fix the results, smooth everything over and have the armour almost done. So these are steps I completed the last couple of days: </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">I sprayed it again with the basecoat from last time, P3 Greatcoat Grey and GW Mechanicum Standard Grey, but left the highlights in place. I then started washing the whole mini with some GW Badab Black and P3 Exile Blue. I repeated that step 2 more times and helped smooth any leftover problems from the damn sputter. :)</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">Then onto the highlights - I started off with 80% Mechanicum Standard Grey, 20% Greatcoat Grey. It turned out that some of the armour scales on the arms and legs weren't all that detailed in parts. I had to basically "paint" them on. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">To define the raised areas even more, I added GW Ulthuan Grey to the former mix and after that some pure White. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">And to pull all the colours together, I made two glazes out of Exile Blue and some mixing medium and Greatcoat Grey and Mixing Medium. I only left the uppermost areas and edges untouched by this.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">The end result looked like this: </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br /></span>

<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-s3HonZWnY6w/VTYx_SAhMTI/AAAAAAAAASU/CQu4KCHtQXU/s1600/Father%2BKnight%2BShepard.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-s3HonZWnY6w/VTYx_SAhMTI/AAAAAAAAASU/CQu4KCHtQXU/s1600/Father%2BKnight%2BShepard.png" width="275" /></a></span></div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">I've talked about it before, on the <a href="http://infinitytheforums.com/forum/" target="_blank">official Infinity forums</a> and on here, that I planned to do a How-To on the Father-Knight (FK), Corvus Belli's Limited edition release, that is only available in their Operation: Icestorm boxset. </span><br />
<a name='more'></a><span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">First of, let me say, this mini alone got me back into Infinity and liking PanOceania again. It's a fantastic sculpt, great design and to top it off, his rules aren't too shabby either.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">Since he's somewhat similar, fluffwise, to 40K's chaplains, I decided that a black scheme might suit him nicely. Finally finishing Mass Effect 3 while I was in the process of painting him reminded me of the similar design aesthetics of ME and Infinity. It was then that I decided he'd also get the Shepard Stripe, or at least some reminder of the ME N7 armour. But enough talk - let's get to the painting.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">In case you have little experience painting black armour, you might wanna check out my <a href="http://kungfusedcreations.blogspot.de/2013/08/how-to-raven-guard-chaplain-part-1.html" target="_blank">How To</a> for the Ravenguard Chaplain. It gives a good first impression on how to approach painting black.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br /></span>
<br />
<h3>
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">The Basecoat and Shading</span></h3>
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">For the FK, I started out with standard black primer and then sprayed on a basecoat of GW Mechanicum Standard Grey mixed with Abaddon Black via airbrush. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">From there I added some GW Ulthuan Grey to the mix and sprayed some zenithal highlights - meaning I sprayed the mini from above. Thus, the colour pigments catch on the raised areas and upper edges, creating first highlights. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br /></span>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-u8q3gQIGox4/VTYyZEIZVJI/AAAAAAAAASc/SCh9-fTw6p4/s1600/Screen%2BShot%2B2015-04-20%2Bat%2B12.13.23.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-u8q3gQIGox4/VTYyZEIZVJI/AAAAAAAAASc/SCh9-fTw6p4/s1600/Screen%2BShot%2B2015-04-20%2Bat%2B12.13.23.png" width="232" /></a></span></div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">I ended up with a lighter overall colour then intended, so I consecutively shaded it down to a darker overall tone with some GW Badab Black mixed with P3 Black until the armour looked like pretty dark slate grey. Keep in mind that black armour should always have a dark grey tone as its basecoat, so you still can create shadows of pure black.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br /></span>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-jCzsMh2K2jU/VTYy0j6sMnI/AAAAAAAAASk/RwLvek6Nk40/s1600/Screen%2BShot%2B2015-04-20%2Bat%2B12.13.31.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-jCzsMh2K2jU/VTYy0j6sMnI/AAAAAAAAASk/RwLvek6Nk40/s1600/Screen%2BShot%2B2015-04-20%2Bat%2B12.13.31.png" width="257" /></a></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-F0IhCuzIc_s/VTYzH56_viI/AAAAAAAAASs/i1koetN6Q-I/s1600/Screen%2BShot%2B2015-04-20%2Bat%2B12.13.39.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-F0IhCuzIc_s/VTYzH56_viI/AAAAAAAAASs/i1koetN6Q-I/s1600/Screen%2BShot%2B2015-04-20%2Bat%2B12.13.39.png" width="250" /></a></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br /></span></div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">Then I blocked in all the other primary colours - the red tabard was basecoated with a mix of P3 Umbral Umber and P3 Bloodstone, while the leather straps and the belt received a basecaot of P3 Battlefield Brown and P3 Bootstrap Leather.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br /></span>
<h3>
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">The Highlights</span></h3>
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">The trick to painting black armour is keeping the overall look as dark as possible. After the shading I already had some first definition of the plates. The first step of highlights was to use some GW Mechanicum Standard Grey and paint some highlights along the armour lines. You don't have to do that for every line of the model, but most sharp edges should receive a highlight.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">From there, I mixed in some GW Administratum Grey, and painting over those highlights again, but only covering about 2/3rds of the former. Use more highlights on the upper area and arms of the model than on the legs, since these parts catch more light.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">Add in Ulthuan Grey and cover about 1/3rd of the previous step and use pure Ulthuan Greay for the final highlights - only some minor dots and specks on corners and stuff. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">Highlighting the tabard was done with some P3 Skorne Red on the folds, followed by P3 Khador Red Base, then add in some Khador Red Highlight and finally some GW Sunburst Yellow. Take care to cover smaller areas with each highlight. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">The leather straps, as tiny as they might be, received some highlights with P3 Bootsrap Leather. I then used some P3 Rucksack Tan, then added a dot of P3 Hammerfall Khaki to the mix and painted some really thin lines on the upper edge of the belt and the straps.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br /></span>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Tb_vZDJA3Dk/VTYzdvGdvLI/AAAAAAAAAS0/ODjbNwbJJIw/s1600/Screen%2BShot%2B2015-04-20%2Bat%2B12.13.45.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Tb_vZDJA3Dk/VTYzdvGdvLI/AAAAAAAAAS0/ODjbNwbJJIw/s1600/Screen%2BShot%2B2015-04-20%2Bat%2B12.13.45.png" width="275" /></a></span></div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br /></span>
<br />
<h3>
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">Pulling it all together</span></h3>
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">Now you might have ended up with some starker contrasts on some colours, especially the red. To get a homogenic and harmonic look, we move on the glazes. I usually thin my colours down a lot for this and occasionally add some mixing medium to get a nice glaze. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">For the black, I just went over the armour with some thinned down Badab Black, so all the highlights got toned down a bit. For the red, I first used thinned down GW Devlan Mud, then some P3 Exile Blue and Abaddon Black thinned down to a very watery consistency and went over the tabard. It is important to not let your thinned down paint pool anywhere or you will end up with ugly stains. Pull the paint into the creases of the tabard, always moving away from the highlighted areas. The leather received the same colour treatment as the armour. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br /></span>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-RyY8LkDWNEE/VTYz64ueJoI/AAAAAAAAATE/6FYkNWnLUkU/s1600/Screen%2BShot%2B2015-04-20%2Bat%2B12.14.01.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-RyY8LkDWNEE/VTYz64ueJoI/AAAAAAAAATE/6FYkNWnLUkU/s1600/Screen%2BShot%2B2015-04-20%2Bat%2B12.14.01.png" width="288" /></a></span></div>

<h3>
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">The Details</span></h3>
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">You might have noticed, that I didn't mention glowy bits, the gold hilt or the sword's blade. For the glowy bits, you might wanna check out my tutorial on OSL effects <a href="http://kungfusedcreations.blogspot.de/2013/09/how-to-paint-necron-deathmarks-iii-glow.html" target="_blank">here</a>. For the blade and NMM I looked a lot at this <a href="http://arcanepaintworks.blogspot.de/2014/11/true-metal-metallics-vs-non-metal.html" target="_blank">brilliant article</a> (thanks to Mob of Blondes for the tip). There's also a nice tutorial for chrome <a href="http://hooysvision.blogspot.de/2015/04/quick-chrome-tutorial.html" target="_blank">here</a> (thanks to Hooy). For the gold, the colours I used were a basecoat of P3 Bloodtracker Brown and P3 Heartfire. You need this step, since yellow itself won't cover areas very good on its own. I added lots of Sunburst Yellow to the mix and went over all the gold elements again. From there, I highlighted with P3 Menoth White Highlight and some final dots of pure white to receive a golden look. I washed over it with some very thinned down Bloodtracker Brown again, to give it a richer tone.</span><br />
